1. 강의 개요
이 수업에서는 과학기술사의 흥미로운 주제들을 중심으로 고대부터 과학혁명기까지의 과학기술의 역사를 살펴봅니다. 이때 근대 초까지도 과학 분야의 경계가 모호했음에도 불구하고, 수업 전반부에서는 수학, 천문학, 자연철학, 자연사와 같은 세부 과학 분야들로 나누어 해당 분야에 관한 1차 문헌과 최근의 연구들을 통사적으로 살펴보겠습니다. 후반부에서는 ‘번역과 인쇄’, ‘과학과 예술’, ‘과학과 종교’ 같은 논제들을 중심으로, 마찬가지로 관련 연구들을 살펴볼 것입니다. 수업을 통해 과학기술사의 여러 분야와 주제들을 접하면서 본인의 구체적인 관심사를 발견할 수 있기를 기대합니다.

3. 평가
독서과제 요약문(30%), 수업 발제 및 토론(30%), 기말 리포트(40%)
매주 주어진 독서과제들을 읽고 요약문을 제출합니다(30%). 수업은 개별 독서과제에 대한 발제와 토론으로 진행됩니다(30%). 기말 과제는 강의를 통해 본인이 관심을 가지게 된 주제에 대해 공부한 후 10장 이상의 리포트를 작성하는 것으로 평가하겠습니다(40%). 평가에 대한 보다 자세한 사항들은 강의 첫 시간에 설명하도록 하겠습니다.
